Anurag Kashyap Delivers a Scathing Verdict on Bollywood's Corporate Booking Trend! The renowned filmmaker doesn't mince words, and his recent conversation with Komal Nahta is no exception. He fearlessly tackled the controversial practice of producers buying their own movie tickets, also known as corporate booking. This practice inflates box office numbers, creating a false sense of success. But what does Kashyap really think?
Kashyap's message to these producers is blunt: "You are living in DELUSION; doing it for show-off." He pulls no punches, highlighting the self-deception at play. He elaborates, "It’s a new practice. You are lying to yourself. This has been my problem with the industry. When you lie to yourself, you’ll not even realize that kya accha hai aur kya bura. How would you then evolve? How would you grow? Hence, you are limiting yourself from Juhu to Bandra. You simply want to brag about one of the film parties between Juhu and Bandra (about your film’s collections)."
But here's where it gets controversial... Kashyap believes this practice stunts growth. By creating a false reality, producers lose the ability to learn from their mistakes and improve. He poses a critical question: What's the point of this charade? He says, "At the end of the day, aap jab ghar aa ke sote ho, aapko apni sacchai pata hai. You are just doing it for show-off and to maintain a delusion.”
He draws a powerful parallel with his experience in Rajasthan, comparing these producers to those clinging to outdated notions of royalty, despite their circumstances.
In a rapid-fire round, Kashyap also weighed in on the popularity of the Khans. And this is the part most people miss... He declared Shah Rukh Khan as the most popular, followed by Salman Khan, and then Aamir Khan. However, he also added a crucial detail: Aamir Khan is the shrewdest and hardest-working of the three, specifically in his role as a producer.
