A Tragic Accident: Elderly Woman's Hit-and-Run Involving Two Vehicles in Midtown Toronto
A devastating incident has left an elderly woman dead after she was struck by two vehicles in a hit-and-run accident in midtown Toronto. The incident occurred near the busy intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Dunfield Road, not far from Yonge Street, around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
Duty Inspector Scott Bradbury, speaking at the scene, revealed that the woman had just finished her grocery shopping and was crossing the street when she was hit by a west-bound vehicle and an east-bound vehicle. The victim, believed to be in her 80s, was pronounced dead shortly after the collision.
Both vehicles fled the scene, with the first vehicle described as a light-colored or white Hyundai SUV with front-end damage. The driver of this vehicle was last seen heading west. Unfortunately, no information has been provided about the second vehicle involved.
Inspector Bradbury assured the public that investigators and special constables are actively working on the case and expressed hope for updated information soon. As a result, Eglinton Avenue is currently closed between Yonge and Lilian streets for the investigation.
