Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 Inductees: Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, The White Stripes and More! (2025)

Get ready for a night of musical magic and a celebration of iconic artists! The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the class of 2025 was a star-studded affair, bringing together generations of talent at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

But here's where it gets controversial... some of the inductees might not be what you'd expect from a traditional rock 'n' roll hall of fame!

The ceremony kicked off with a tribute to the legendary Sly Stone, featuring an all-star lineup including Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson. Later, Elton John paid homage to the late Beach Boys member Brian Wilson, and a video tribute honored Ozzy Osbourne.

The performer category inductees for the night included Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon were honored with the musical influence award, while Caroly Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, and Thom Bell received the musical excellence award.

Producer Lenny Waronker, a longtime Warner Records veteran, was the recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun award.

Jack White, representing the iconic rock duo The White Stripes, accepted the honor on behalf of the group. He shared a sweet moment, passing along Meg White's love and gratitude, as she has kept a low profile since their last performance in 2009.

White's absence from the tribute performance was notable, with Olivia Rodrigo and Feist taking on the task of performing the duo's song "We're Going to Be Friends." Twenty One Pilots also covered their iconic track "Seven Nation Army."

Outkast, the Atlanta hip-hop duo, brought a star-studded group of musicians to the stage for their tribute. Big Boi, joined by Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, and more, performed their biggest hits, including "Ms. Jackson" and "Hey Ya."

Jim Carrey inducted Soundgarden, introducing Chris Cornell's eldest daughter, Lily Cornell Silver, who spoke about her father. The performance featured Cornell's former bandmates, including original member Hiro Yamamoto, with Taylor Momsen and Brandi Carlisle on vocals. Toni Cornell, Cornell's youngest daughter, also performed a moving rendition of "Fell on Black Days."

Yamamoto, a founding member of Soundgarden, used his moment to address the current state of the world, sharing a powerful message about his family's history during World War II and the importance of learning from the past.

In a fitting tribute, Chappell Roan inducted Cyndi Lauper, donning an extravagant outfit that paid homage to Lauper's unique style. Lauper's speech was a highlight, as she acknowledged the women who paved the way for her and shared her belief in the power of rock 'n' roll to make a positive impact on the world.

Lauper performed her hit "True Colors," a powerful anthem for the LGBTQ community, and was joined by Raye and Avril Lavigne for more iconic songs.

David Letterman and Missy Elliott also made appearances, inducting Warren Zevon, Soundgarden, and Salt-N-Pepa, respectively. Letterman even brought out Zevon's guitar for the tribute performance.

Salt-N-Pepa's Cheryl James used her platform to address a pressing issue in the music industry - the battle for ownership of their music. She spoke about the challenges they faced in an industry that has since evolved with streaming and social media, and the ongoing fight for fair treatment.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was a night filled with musical excellence, powerful performances, and important messages. It showcased the diverse range of artists who have shaped the music industry and left their mark on the world.
